#35 My Grammy Moment 2009
Even after my video didn’t make the top 3, I had this strange feeling that I would be on the Grammys. I also predicted the top 3 would be Ileadene, Scott the Nerd, and Retro Girl - maybe I should get my head checked. I had to work on the big day, so I made sure to Tivo the Grammys just in case I wouldn’t be able to catch the show at work. For about five hours I sat at my desk waiting for the Grammys to air, then right before Katy Perry’s performance a swarm of customers suddenly began having computer problems that couldn’t possibly wait for a few minutes (I guess I should tell you I’m a System Administrator). I ran to their aid, fumbling as fast as I could to get the computers to at least fake normal operation. I sprinted back to my desk just in time to find out I had missed the performance
My co-workers also added to my disappointment by telling me that my video was not shown.
I wallowed in self-pity for another three hours until the night-shift arrived, then sped home and fast-forwarded the Tivo to Katy Perry. Somebody in the Perry camp is a big TEASE, because none of the “Moment” videos were played until over half-way through the song…I started thinking it was all a big scam. In the final chorus of “I Kissed a Girl”, there it was in all its glory - my shower video! My shower video?? That video didn’t even make it into the top 20 videos! My friends and I wasted hours of our lives voting for the nurse video to be shown on the Grammys. That explains why my co-workers didn’t see me on the show - they were expecting my nurse video. Seriously, somebody at CBS likes to play jokes.
The moral of the story - I was on the Grammys! I was part of the entertainment for music’s biggest entertainers. For all of about five seconds
I learned some valuable lessons:
- You can’t please everyone - In the photo for “PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian in the Air Force”, I was 5′8″ and 120lbs. A Pensacola News Journal reader said that I was too skinny and need bigger boobs. In the nurse video for “My Grammy Moment”, I was 5′8″ and 130lbs. A CBS forum member said I have jiggly thighs and fat rolls. Maybe I should meet them in the middle at 125lbs??
- If you’re going to participate in a contest based on votes, go all out so you win and your effort is not wasted. Send press releases to the media, message people on myspace, list it on craigslist, post links on forums, make cards to pass out in public, hang bulletins across town, etc.
- Don’t ever participate in a contest based on votes!
I want to hear about what shows everyone else would want to play a part in…so fess up ![]()

I hate that I missed it! I completely forgot you may be on but I’m so glad you were (even if it was the Shower video-which I liked most anyway!)
On the list you’re supposed to an extra in your favorite TV show. Well, my fave was Friends but I’ll take an extra spot on The Office or How I Met Your Mother. With my southern accent, I’m perfect for True Blood. If I was going to be in a reality show, it would have to be Rock of Love, simply so I could see Bret Michaels and his hair extensions up close (But truly, I’m not skanky enough to be on that show)

You know what Mrs. Lewis, it doesnt matter that you didnt win. It was more over that you still pushed as far as you could and still made it pretty far! As for your future endevours, I’ll be here for you. You have been there for me and met me in one of the hardest times of my life. You supported and helped me, as I will for you on anything I can do to help you with accomplishing all 101 Things. LOVE YA!!!

BRIANNE!! It’s so good to see you post
True friends are hard to find, but they can make the best out of a bad situation.
Manos, thanks for the words of encouragement…some of these Things take a lot of guts, so it’s good to know that it doesn’t really matter what the outcome is.
Jessica, I won’t even watch Rock of Love without protection - that show is disgusting
That would be awesome to see you on any of those shows…when do you think you’ll start trying to accomplish this Thing?

Gina, I admire the zeal with which you are trying to acco, plish the TTD tasks but I come more and more to the conclusion that we don’t necessarily HAVE TO do those things. Interestingly, the Greek title for the book is “101 pragmata pou prepei na kaneis oso zeis” (translation = 101 things you must do as long as you live) and the German one (if I remember it properly)”101 Dinge, die man getan haben sollte, bevor das Lebem vorbei ist (translation = 101 things one shall have done before life is gone). As far as I understand it, what Mr. Horne counts up are only SUGGESTIONS. I can fully understand that the idea of the book is to enjou life to its most extent and to achieve the things we really want and came here to do. In fact, I think following OUR OWN wish list and doing the things we really want to do is not only our birthright but what we OUGHT to do if we want to be happy and a role model for others. Isn’t that - overcoming ourselves an being a role model for others - the quintessence of existence per se? Yet, I am still of the opinion that we should never say never. Usually, what we say we would never do is the next thing that will happen to us. We never know what we are going to do tomorrow to protect friends / family / spouses / lovers / children / grandchildren. Even at work it may occur to someone. I said I would never smoke and the next thing, I had to fume a couple of cigarettes for a film role in my acting school.

Gina, I need you to do me a favor. I have been at a casting, and my video is one of the candidates for a new movie that is going to be shot soon. Although I have been working as an extra since 2005 and even had a couple of roles (some lines, as amatter of fact, nothing special) and even had a couple of roles at my acting schhol, this is going to be my first seriously paid speaking role. You know how much I supportedyou with your grammy awards. Please light a candle and make a prayer that I get this role! Please! Please! Please!
P.S. I owe you a hug.

Gina, I miss you. What happened? I haven’t heard from you for ages. Anyway, you asked for my report, so here it is: Aside from calls from friends-actors or teachers-actors/director, I am waiting still for a call from an audition I had to been somewere around October November, plus from at least three different agencies, and right now, I have sent my C.V. for a short movie that is going to ne shot in April this year. Please, please, please, wish me best of luck and this is going to work out. I can’t stand working in call center agencies or schools again, having my stomach going up to my throat because of anxiety caused by bosses/clients/students and being fired after a month! This HAS to work out! I used to work in a school until December where I was suffering a lot, I had, in fact, resigned the very first day and I couldn’t leave because they couldn’t find a replacement, and I didn’t know what window to jump off! Then I go to an audition, I find a former co-student from college who is now working at one of my agencies, she calls me for a commercial shooting, I say “no”, I can’t go because I have a class to teach that Friday, and the next week my boss at school informs me that they found a replacement! Couldn’t she fire me a week earlier?! I don’t want to go through that nightmare again! Please, please, please wish me that this works out!

Gina, I am starting getting worried. I haven’t had from you for quite some time. Please give a sign so that we know you are well, Ok?

Sooooo sorry! Things are going well - just VERY busy. We are adopting a 6yr old, so juggling the new schedule has been difficult. I will update soon. Sorry to hear about the crummy school job, but I hope everything works out for you now.
